கனடிய சமஷ்டி அரசு கோவிட் – 19 தொற்று நோய் குறித்த தேசிய மட்ட எதிர்வு கூறல்களைக் காட்டும் உருப்படிவங்களை (modelling) இன்று (வியாழக்கிழமை) வெளியிட்டது. வைரஸின் நடத்தை குறித்து அறிந்துள்ள விடயங்களையும், பொதுச் சுகாதார நடவடிக்கைகள் ஏற்படுத்தக் கூடியமாற்றங்களையும் கருத்திற் கொண்டு எதிர்வரும் மாதங்களில் இந்தத் தொற்று நோய் எத்தகைய பாதிப்பை ஏற்படுத்து மென்பதைக் காண்பிப்பதற்கு இந்த உருப்படிவங்கள் முற்படுகின்றன. கனடாவில் ஏப்ரல் 16 ஆந் திகதியளவில் 22,580 முதல் 31,850 வரையானோர் தொற்றுக்கு உள்ளாவார்களெனவும், 500 முதல் 700 வரையானோர் மரணமாவார்களெனவும் குறுகிய கால எதிர்வு கூறல்கள் குறிப்பிடுகின்றன. பொதுச் சுகாதார நடவடிக்கைகளினதும், சுகாதாரப் பராமரிப்புப் பொறிமுறையின் அதிகரித்த வல்லமையிலும் தங்கியிருக்கும் நீண்டகால எதிர்வு கூறல்கள் பாரிய அளவில் வேறுபடுகின்றன.

Updated Emergency Measures by the Canadian Federal Government on April 9th
Today, the Government of Canada released national-level modelling on the COVID-19 epidemic in Canada. The modelling attempts to show how the epidemic might unfold over the coming months based on the knowledge of how the virus behaves and the potential impact of public health measures. Short-term projections estimate 22,580 to 31,850 cases and approximately 500-700 deaths by April 16 in Canada. Longer term projections vary widely based on the type and strength of Public Health measures and the enhanced capacity of the health care system.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in addressing Canadians today, reiterated the message shared by Dr. Theresa Tam, Chief Medical Officer of Canada; that as COVID-19 arrived in Canada later than many other countries, Canada is still in an earlier stage of the outbreak, and that Canadians still have the chance to determine how the spread can be controlled in the weeks and months to come. Based on current trajectory, the initial peak – the top of the curve – may be in late spring, with the end of the first wave in the summer. Statistics Canada, today released the first national employment numbers since the COVID-19 pandemic declaration. With a number of provinces and municipalities having declared a State of Emergency, the employment numbers were reported to be reduced by 1 million for the month of March. Prime Minister Trudeau, reassured Canadians that the government will continue to support Canadians bridge to better times.
Since the Canada Emergency Response Benefit was launched on Monday, April 6th, over 4.5 million claims have been processed – meaning over 4.5 million Canadians have already received their $2000 for this month. The government continues to work on legislation to bring in a wage subsidy to help employers keep people on the payroll. The Canada Emergency Business Loan which offers guaranteed loans to small businesses has been launched today. The GST Tax Credit, which has been supplemented by upto $300 per adult and $150 per child as part of COVID-19 economic measures will also be sent to eligible low income Canadians today.
The COVID-19 crisis is the worst crisis faced by Canada since the World Wars. Today, on the 103rd anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, Prime Minister Trudeau reflected on the strength and unity of Canada and the brave sacrifices that Canadians made over a 100 years ago, so that we can have a peaceful country today. The Prime Minister recognized the efforts of Canadians, whether in the battle trenches during Vimy Ridge or the nurses and doctors on the front line today, and all Canadians who are putting their own lives at risk to keep fellow Canadians safe and healthy. He reassured Canadians that things will get better, and the Canadian government will pull all stops to beat the COVID-19 virus and to support Canadians through this difficult time.
