ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் மனித உரிமைகள் பேரவை (UNHRC) இலங்கை மீதான A/HRC/46/ L.1/Rev.1 தீர்மானத்தை, இன்று நிறைவேற்றியதைக் கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவை (CTC) வரவேற்கிறது. இத் தீர்மானத்திற்கு ஆதரவாக, இன்று வாக்களித்த முதன்மைக் குழு நாடுகளுக்கும், இந்தத் தீர்மானத்தின் இணை ஆதரவாளர்களுக்கும், 22 நாடுகளுக்கும் கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவை நன்றி தெரிவிக்கிறது.
இந்தத் தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றப்படுவதை உறுதிப்படுத்தக் கடுமையாக உழைத்த, ஆறு முக்கிய முதன்மைக் குழு நாடுகளில் ஒன்றான, கனடாவுக்கு சிறப்பு நன்றியைக் கூறுகிறோம். இந்தத் தீர்மானத்தை நிறைவேற்றுவதற்காக, அயராது வாதிட்ட தன்னார்வத் தொண்டு நிறுவனங்கள், சமூக அமைப்புகள் மற்றும் முஸ்லிம் சமூகம் உட்பட அனைவருக்கும் கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவை நன்றி தெரிவிக்கிறது.
ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபை மனித உரிமைகள் பேரவையின், இத் தீர்மானமானது, இலங்கையில் மனித உரிமைகள் மீறல்கள் மற்றும் அதனுடன் தொடர்புடைய குற்றங்களுக்கான ஆதாரங்களை சேகரிக்க, மனித உரிமைகள் பேரவை ஆணையாளர் அலுவலகத்தில், ஒரு பிரத்தியேக அமைப்பை நிறுவுகிறது.
ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் மனித உரிமைகள் பேரவையில், இன்று இந்தத் தீர்மானத்திற்கு ஆதரவாக 22 நாடுகள் வாக்களித்திருக்கின்றன. 11 நாடுகள் எதிராக வாக்களித்துள்ளன. 14 நாடுகள் இத் தீர்மான வாக்களிப்பைத் தவிர்த்துள்ளன.
Statement by Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) on Resolution 46/1 of the United Nations Human Rights Council
Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) welcomes the passing of the resolution A/HRC/46/L.1/Rev.1 on Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) today. CTC thanks the Core Group countries, Co-Sponsors of this resolution and the 22 countries which voted in favour of the resolution today. Special thanks goes to Canada for its role as one of the six core group countries that worked hard to ensure the passage of this resolution. CTC also thanks the NGOs, community organizations and all others including the Muslim community who tirelessly advocated for the passage of this resolution.
This UNHRC resolution establishes a dedicated body in Office of the High Commissioner to collect evidence of violations of Human Rights and related crimes in Sri Lanka
22 countries voted in favour of the resolution, 11 countries voted against and 14 countries abstained from voting for this resolution in the UNHRC today.
