COVID-19 உலகளாவிய பெருந் தொற்று நோய்க்கு எதிராகக் கனடா நடவடிக்கை எடுத்து வரும் வேளையில், பிரதமர் Justin Trudeau இன்று (வியாழக்கிழமை) பின் வரும் விடயங்களை அறிவித்தார்:
கனடாவின் கோவிட் – 19 அவசர நடவடிக்கைத் திட்டத்திற்கு அரச ஒப்புதல் வழங்கப்பட்டு அது நடைமுறைக்கு வந்துள்ளது. இந்த நடவடிக்கைத் திட்டத்தின் கீழ், கனடியர்களுக்குத் தேவைப்படும் பின்வருவன போன்ற பல உடனடியான உதவிகள் கிடைக்கும்:
நேற்று அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட கனடிய அவசர நடவடிக்கைக் கொடுப்பனவின் (Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)) மூலம், கோவிட் – 19 காரணமாக வருமானம் கிடைக்காதுள்ள பணியாளர்களுக்கு எதிர்வரும் நான்கு மாதங்களுக்கு மாத மொன்றுக்கு 2,000 டொலர் வீதம் வழங்கப்படும். இதற்கான விண்ணப்பங்களைச் சமர்ப்பிப்பதற்கான இணையப் பக்கம் இயலுமான விரைவில் அமைக்கப்பட்டு, அவை சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட பத்து நாட்களுக்குள் மக்களுக்குப் பணம் கிடைக்கும்

- இந்தப் புதிய திட்டத்தின் கீழ், சுகவீன வேலைக் காப்புறுதி (EI sickness), வழமையான வேலைக் காப்புறுதி (EI regular), அவசர பராமரிப்பு உதவி, அவசர ஆதரவுக் கொடுப்பனவு ஆகியன கோவிட்-19ஆல் பாதிக்கப்பட்டோருக்கு, கனேடிய அவசர நடவடிக்கைக் கொடுப்பனவு என்ற ஒரே கொடுப்பனவாக வழங்கப்படவுள்ளன.
- வேலைக் காப்புறுதிக் கொடுப்பனவுக்குத் தகுதி பெறுவோரும், வேலைக் காப்புறுதிக் கொடுப்பனவுக்குத் தகுதி பெறாதவர்களும் புதிய கொடுப்பனவைப் பெறக் கூடியதாக இருக்கும். புதிய திட்டத்தில் வாரமொன்றுக்கு 500 டொலர் வீதம் நான்கு வாரங்களுக்கு ஒரு முறை பணம் வழங்கப்படும். இந்தக் கொடுப்பனவு 16 வாரங்கள் வரை வழங்கப்படும்.
- இந்தக் கொடுப்பனவு 2020 மார்ச் 15 இல் இருந்து 2020 ஒக்ரோபர் 3வரையான காலப் பகுதியில் வழங்கப்படும்.
- கனடா வருமான வரி முகவரகத்தின் My CRA கணக்கின் ஊடாக இந்தக் கொடுப்பனவுக்கு விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம்.
Updated Emergency Measures by the Canadian Federal Governmenton March 26th
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau highlighted the following updates today (Thursday), as Canada continues to address the COVID-19 pandemic:
Canada’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Plan has received Royal Assent and has been implemented. This response plan makes way for many immediate supports for Canadians – such as;
- The Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), announced yesterday, which will provide $2,000 a month, for up to 4 months, to people who are not getting paid as a result of COVID-19. An application portal will launch as quickly as possible, and people should start receiving money within 10 days of applying;

* A boosted Canada Child Benefit for families in May;
* Supplemented GST Credit for low-income Canadians;
* Six-month, interest-free moratorium on Canada Student Loans

- Recently there has been a text scam spreading misinformation on the new Emergency Response
Benefit. It remains important for Canadians to remain informed from the correct sources such as Canada.ca.
- In regards to repatriating Canadians, two more flights from El Salvador and Guatemala have been announced yesterday. The government is in constant communication with international partners who are also facing this crisis.
- This morning, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke to G20 Leaders, and reported that it is clear that to overcome COVID-19 action needs to be taken together as a global community, and to remain committed to do whatever it takes;
* including making sure the World Health Organization and public health agencies have the resources they need;
* working together to develop a vaccine, identify treatments, and increase testing;
* expanding manufacturing capacity for critical medical equipment, and working to keep the supply chains moving to get that equipment to the people who need it;
* helping companies in Canada retool their manufacturing facilities to produce the things needed
* On the economy, the G20 has also made significant investments to help people and businesses get through this challenging time.
- Kirsten Hillman has been appointed as Canada’s new ambassador to the United States. Ambassador Hillman was instrumental in securing a good deal for Canada and for Canadians during NAFTA negotiations and more recently, Ambassador Hillman played a key role in working with the US to temporarily close the border, while keeping Canada’s trade flowing.
- To fight COVID-19, it is important to protect the supply chains which provide us vital supplies like fresh vegetables, medicine, and supplies for our healthcare systems. The Prime Minister thanked the workers in Canandian ports, railways, and trucking industry for their role during this time.
- As the crisis evolves, Canada will put in place the necessary measures to keep Canadians safe. In response to the fact that too many travelers are still not self-isolating upon returning to Canada, Canada is taking more stringent action. Yesterday, it was announced that it would now be mandatory for all travellers returning to Canada to be in quarantine for 14 days; a breach of the Quarantine Act could result in serious fine and even prison time.
- In regards to concerns about medical equipment and personal protection equipment supplies in Canada, the Prime Minister reassured that the needs of the Provinces and Territories are being met; millions more of equipment are on route to Canada; and Canada is also working with local companies to produce more. He reiterated that COVID-19 is a global crisis and it demands a global response, making it important for Canada to work closely with allies to protect people and the economy.
Employment and Social Development Canada, under the oversight of federal minister Carla Qualtrough has set out the guidelines for the eligibility for the newly announced Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) The CERB will be available to workers residing in Canada, who are at least 15 years old, and who:
- Have earned at least $5,000 in 2019 or in the year prior to their application from any of a combination of the following sources: employment, self employment, Employment Insurance maternity and parental benefits, and/or similar benefits paid in Quebec under the Quebec Parental Insurance Plan (QPIP); and
- Are without employment or self-employment income for at least 14 consecutive days in a four- week period, for reasons related to COVID-19, including if they have temporarily stopped working, lost their job, are sick or in quarantine, or need to care for a child or a family member.
- The new system will streamline EI Sickness, EI Regular, and the Canada Emergency Care and Emergency Support Benefits into a single Canada Emergency Response Benefit for those impacted by COVID-19.
- Both EI and non-EI eligible individuals will be able to access this new Benefit. The new Benefit will provide a flat weekly amount of $500, paid in four week instalments for up to 16 weeks.
- This Benefit is available from March 15th, 2020 until October 3, 2020.
- The application will be available through the My CRA account in April 2020.
