COVID-19 உலகளாவிய பெருந் தொற்று நோய்க்கு எதிராகக் கனடா நடவடிக்கை எடுத்துவரும் வேளையில், பிரதமர் Justin Trudeau இன்று (சனிக்கிழமை) பின்வரும் விடயங்களை அறிவித்தார்:
- பிரிட்டிஷ் கொலம்பியாவில் இருந்து வெளிவரும் நம்பிக்கையூட்டும் செய்திகள், கோவிட் – 19 பரம்பலைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவதற்கெனக் கனடாவும், கனடியர்களும் எடுத்துவரும் நடவடிக்கைள் சரியானவையென்பதை மீளவும் உறுதி செய்கின்றன. சமூக இடைவெளி பேணல், சுய தனிமைப்படுத்தல், அத்தியாவசியமற்ற அனைத்துப் பயணங்களையும் நிறுத்துதல் போன்றன வைரஸ் பரம்பல் வீதத்தைக் குறைக்கின்றன. பரம்பலை மேலும் குறைப்பதற்கு இந்த நடவடிக்கைகள் இறுக்கமாகத் தொடர்ந்து கடைப்பிடிக்கப்பட வேண்டும்.

- கனடாவின் எதிர்காலம் சிறப்பாக இருப்பதற்கான திட்டமிடலில் இளைய கனடியர்கள் ஆற்றி வரும் பங்கைப் பிரதமர் ஜஸ்ரின் ட்ரூடோ நினைவு கூர்ந்தார். காலநிலை மாற்றத்துக்கு எதிரான நடவடிக்கை, வறுமை ஒழிப்பு போன்றவற்றிலும் வேறு பலவற்றிலும் செயலாற்றும் கனடிய இளையோருக்கு கோவிட் – 19 நெருக்கடி வேளையில் ஆதரவளிக்க வேண்டியதன் அவசியத்தை அவர் குறிப்பிட்டார். பிரதம மந்திரி அவரது இளையோர் சபையின் உறுப்பினர்களை நேற்றுச் சந்தித்துக் கனடிய இளையோரின் தேவைகள் குறித்துக் கேட்டறிந்தார். சமூகத்தில் உள்ள எளிதில் பாதிக்கப்படக் கூடியோருக்கான உதவி, மன நலம் பேணலுக்கான உதவி ஆகியவற்றுடன் கோடை கால வேலை வாய்ப்பு, பயணம் போன்ற எதிர் காலத் திட்டங்கள் கோவிட் – 19 காரணமாகப் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளமை ஆகியன குறித்து அவருக்குக் கூறப்பட்டது. அவர் பின்வருவனவற்றைக் குறிப்பிட்டார்:

சிறு மற்றும் நடுத்தர வணிக நிறுவனங்களுக்கு நேற்று அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட உதவிகள் மூலம் பலர் நேரடியாகவோ, மறைமுகமாகவோ உதவி பெறுவார்கள். அத்துடன்
இளைய கனடியர்கள் புறக் கணிக்கப்படாதிருப்பதையும், இந்த நேரத்தில் அவர்களுக்குத் தேவையான உதவிகள் கிடைப்பதையும் உறுதி செய்வதற்காக இளைய கனடியர்களின் கருத்துக்களைத் தொடர்ந்தும் செவி மெடுக்கவுள்ளதாக அவர் உறுதியளித்தார்.
- தனி நபர்களுக்கும், வணிக நிறுவனங்களுக்கும் ஆதரவளிக்கும் வகையில் இந்த வாரம் அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட புதிய நடவடிக்கைகளைப் பிரதமர் நினைவுபடுத்தினார். கனடா அவசர நடவடிக்கைக் கொடுப்பனவு(Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)) மூலம் வருமானம் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பணியாளர்களுக்கு மாத மொன்றுக்கு 2000 டொலர் வீதம் நான்கு மாதங்களுக்கு உதவி வழங்கப்படும். பணியாளர்களை பணி நீக்கம் செய்யாது தொடர்ந்தும் வைத்துள்ள சிறிய மற்றும் நடுத்தர வணிக நிறுவனங்களுக்கு 75 சதவீதம் வரையிலான சம்பளமானியம் வழங்கப்படும். வணிக நிறுவனங்களுக்கு 40,000 டொலர் வரையிலான கடன்கள் வழங்கப்படும் – இந்தக் கடன்களுக்குப் 12 மாதங்கள் வட்டி அறவிடப்படமாட்டாது, அத்துடன் தகுதி பெறும் வணிக நிறுவனங்களின் கடன்களில் 10,000 டொலர் வரை தள்ளுபடி செய்யப்படும் சந்தர்ப்பமும் உள்ளது. இந்தத் திட்டங்கள் குறித்த மேலதிக தகவல்கள் எதிர்வரும் நாட்களில் வெளியிடப்படும்

Updated Emergency Measures by the Canadian Federal Government on March 28th
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau highlighted the following updates today (Saturday), as Canada continues to address the COVID-19 pandemic:
- Promising news coming out of British Columbia reassures that Canada and Canadians are taking the right steps in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Measures such as social-distancing, self-isolation and stopping all non-essential travel are reducing the rate of spread of the virus. These measures need to be strictly kept up to further prevent the spread.
(The Provincial Health Officer for British Columbia had announced on March 27th that the rate of spread of the virus has started to slow down overall in the province, however the virus is still spreading widely within the community)
- Starting , Monday March 30th at noon, domestic and intercity travellers who showsymptoms of cold or flu will be refused boarding. This domestic travel restriction will apply to both domestic flights and trains.
- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recognized the role that young Canadians play in planning a better future for Canada, the roles they have taken in addressing Climate change, reducing poverty ,and in many other issues and the need to support Canadian youth during the COVID-19 crisis. The Prime Minister met with his Youth Council yesterday to hear from them about the concerns of Canadian youth including; support for vulnerable members of the community, mental health supports, anxiety about their future plans such as summer jobs or travel that are now impacted due to COVID-19. He outlined that:
○ Many youth will also be eligible to apply for the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) announced this week;
○ Many will be supported directly or indirectly through the supports for small and medium sized businesses announced yesterday; and
○ Committed to continue to listen to young Canadians to make sure that they are not left behind and have the support needed during this time.
- Prime Minister Trudeau, highlighted the new measures introduced over this week to support both individuals and businesses; the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) that provides $2000 per month for 4 months for workers whose income has been affected; up to 75% wage subsidy for small and medium businesses that chose to retain their workers; loans up to $40,000 for businesses that will be interest-free for 12 months, and possibility for $10,000 loan forgiveness for qualifying businesses.
○ More information and details about these programs will be announced in the days to come;
○ To apply for Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) Canadians can prepare by creating a My CRA account; (www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency)
○ For ease of accessing funds, Canadians are also encouraged to apply for Direct Deposit with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
