நாடு முழுவதிலும் உள்ள கனேடியர்களுக்குக் கோவிட்-19 தொடர்ந்தும் பாதிப்பு ஏற்படுத்தும் நிலையில், முதற் தேசம் (First Nations), இனுயிட் (Inuit), மேட்டி (Métis) ஆகிய சமூகத்தினரும் சுகாதார, சமூக மற்றும் பொருளாதார சவால்களை எதிர் கொள்கிறார்கள். பூர்வகுடியினருக்கு, குறிப்பாக அவர்களது குடும்பங்களில் இருந்தும் சமூகங்களில் இருந்தும் பிரிந்திருப்போருக்கு, தனித்துவமான தேவைகள் இருப்பதைக் கனேடிய அரசு புரிந்து கொள்கிறது.

நகர்ப் புறங்களிலும், பூர்வ குடிக் குடியிருப்புக்களுக்கு வெளியேயும் வசிக்கும் பூர்வ குடி மக்களுக்குச் சேவையாற்றும் பூர்வ குடி அமைப்புக்களுக்கு மேலதிகமாக 75 மில்லியன் டொலர் வழங்கப்படுவதாகப் பிரதம மந்திரி ஜஸ்ரின் ட்ரூடோ இன்று அறிவித்தார்.
இந்த மேலதிக நிதி, உணவுப் பாதுகாப்பு, மன நல ஆதரவுச் சேவைகள், தூய்மைப்படுத்தல் மற்றும் பாதுகாப்புக் கருவிகள் போன்ற பூர்வ குடிமக்களின் இன்றியமையாத தேவைகளை நிறைவு செய்வதற்கு அதிக சமூக அடிப்படையிலான திட்டங்களுக்கு உதவியளிக்கும். மூத்தோர், போக்குவரத்து, பூர்வகுடிச் சிறுவர்களுக்கும் இளையோருக்குமான கல்விக் கருவிகள் போன்ற ஏனைய தேவைகளுக்கும் இந்தப் பணம் உதவும். இந்தத் திட்டங்களுக்கான பணத்தை வழங்கும் செயற்பாடு எதிர்வரும் வாரங்களில் ஆரம்பமாகும்.
Updated Emergency Measures by the Canadian Federal Government on May 21st
As COVID-19 continues to affect Canadians across the country, First Nations, Inuit, and Métis are also facing health, social, and economic challenges. The Government of Canada recognizes that Indigenous peoples have unique needs, especially those who are separated from their families and communities.
On March 18, the Government of Canada announced $305 million for a new, distinctions-based Indigenous Community Support Fund to address immediate needs in Indigenous communities, and help them respond to COVID-19. The Fund included $15 million in support for Indigenousorganizations that provide services to Indigenous peoples living in urban centres and offreserve.
The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced $75 million in new funding for Indigenous organizations providing services to Indigenous peoples in urban centres and off reserve. This additional funding will support more community-based projects that address the critical needs of Indigenous populations during this crisis, including food security, mental health support services, and sanitation and protective equipment. It could also help with other needs, such as support for Elders, transportation, and educational materials for Indigenous children and youth. Funding for projects will start rolling out in the coming weeks.
