இன்று பெரிய வெள்ளியைக் கடைப்பிடிக்கும் கனேடியர்களுக்கும், எதிர்வரும் நாட்களில் உயிர்த்த ஞாயிறு, தமிழ்ப் புத்தாண்டு, வைசாகி ஆகியவற்றைக் கடைப்பிடிக்கும் கனேடியர்களுக்கும் பிரதம மந்திரி ஜஸ்ரின் ட்ரூடோ இன்று கருத்து வெளியிட்டார். கனேடியர்கள் குடும்பங்களாக ஒன்று சேர்ந்தும், தேவாலயம், கோவில் ஆகியவற்றுக்குச் சென்றும் இந்தச் சிறப்பு நாட்களைக் கடைப்பிடிப்பதால், கோவிட்-19 காரணமாகக் கனேடியர்கள் வீட்டில் இருக்கும் நிலையில் இது அனைவருக்கும் வேறுபட்ட அனுபவமாக இருக்குமென அவர் ஏற்றுக் கொண்டார். கனேடியர்களைப் பாதுகாப்பாக இருக்குமாறும், நேரில் ஒன்றுகூடுவதைத் தவிர்க்குமாறும், குடும்பத்தினருடனும், நண்பர்களுடனும் ஸ்கைப்பில் உரையாடுதல், அல்லது அமைப்புக்களுக்கு நன்கொடை வழங்குதல் போன்ற புதிய வழிகளில் இந்த நாட்களைக் கடைப்பிடிக்குமாறும் அவர் கேட்டுக் கொண்டார்.
தொண்டர்கள் தேவையென்ற அழைப்புக்குப் பதிலளித்து, வைரஸ் பரவலைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவதற்குத் தமது திறமைகளைப் பயன்படுத்த ஹெல்த் கனடாவில் பெயர்களைப் பதிவு செய்துள்ள 27,000 இற்கும் அதிகமான கனேடியர்களுக்குப் பிரதம மந்திரி ட்ரூடோ நன்றிகளைத் தெரிவித்தார். கோவிட்-19 இன் பரவலைக் கண்காணித்துத் தரவுகளைப் பேணுவதற்குத் தொண்டு அடிப்படையில் உதவக் கூடியவர்கள் ஏப்ரல் 24 ஆந் திகதி வரை பெயர்களைப் பதிவு செய்யக் கூடியதாக இருக்கும்.
நாடெங்கும் உள்ள கனேடியர்களும், கனேடிய நிறுவனங்களும் உதவி புரிவதற்குத் தொடர்ந்தும் முன்வருகின்றன. அல்பேட்டாவில் உள்ள Fluid Energy இவ்வாறு உதவி புரிவதற்கு முன்வந்த நிறுவனங்களில் அண்மையில் இணைந்து கொண்டுள்ளது. Fluid Energy ஒவ்வொரு மாதமும் ஒரு மில்லியன் லீட்டர் கை சுத்திகரிக்கும் திரவத்தைத் தயாரிக்கவுள்ளது. அதன் முதற் தொகுதி எதிர்வரும் வாரத்தில் விநியோகிக்கப்படும்.
பல மில்லியன் கனேடியர்கள் ஏற்கனவே கனடா அவசர நடவடிக்கைக் கொடுப்பனவுக்கு (Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)) விண்ணப்பித்துப் பணத்தைப் பெற்றுள்ளார்கள். இதுவரை விண்ணப்பத்தைச் சமர்ப்பிக்காதவர்கள் இன்றும், வார இறுதியிலும், இணையத்தளத்திலோ, தொலைபேசி மூலமாவோ விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம். சம்பளங்களையும், ஏனைய கொடுப்பனவுகளையும் வழங்கச் சிரமப்படும் நிறுவனங்களுக்கு உதவியாகக் கனடா அவசர வணிகக் கடன் (Canada Emergency Business Loan) திட்டம் நேற்று ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டது. இந்தத் திட்டத்தில் வங்கிகள், கூட்டுறவு வங்கிகள் (credit unions) ஆகியவற்றின் மூலம் வட்டியில்லாக் கடனாக 40,000 டொலர் வரை வழங்கப்படும். இரண்டு வருடங்களுக்குள் கடன் திருப்பிச் செலுத்தப்பட்டால் கடன் தொகையின் 25 சதவீதம் தள்ளுபடி
செய்யப்படும்.
இரண்டாம் உலகப் போரின் பின்னர் கனடாவில் மேற்கொள்ளப்படவுள்ள மிகப் பெரும் பொருளாதார நடவடிக்கைகளுக்கு அங்கீகாரம் வழங்குவதற்காக நாடாளுமன்றத்தின் மக்களவை நாளை, ஏப்ரல் 11 ஆந் திகதி சனிக்கிழமை மீண்டும் கூடுமெனப் பிரதம மந்திரி ட்ரூடோ அறிவித்தார். வணிக நிறுவனங்களுக்கு 75 சதவீத சம்பள மானியம் வழங்கும் கனடா அவசர சம்பள மானியத்தை (Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy) நடைமுறைப்படுத்துவதற்கும் இந்தச் சட்டமூலம் அனுமதியளிக்கும்.
நெருக்கடி வேளைகளிலும் ஜனநாயக கோட்பாடுகளைக் கடைப்பிடிப்பதனதும், ஜனநாயக அமைப்புக்களை மதித்து நடப்பதனதும் முக்கியத்துவத்தைப் பிரதம மந்திரி குறிப்பிட்டார். நாடாளுமன்றம் மீண்டும் கூடுவதால் பிரதம மந்தியின் நாளாந்த உரை நாளை தாமதமாகும். அவர் மக்களவையில் இருந்தவாறு கனேடியர்களுக்கு உரையாற்றுவார்.
உயிர்த்த ஞாயிறையும், திங்கட்கிழமையையும் மனைவியுடனும் பிள்ளைகளுடனும் செலவிடவுள்ள பிரதம மந்திரி, ஏப்ரல் 14 ஆந் திகதி செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை நாளாந்த உரைகளை ஆரம்பிப்பார்.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today, addressed Canadians who are marking Good Friday, and also, Easter, Tamil New Year and Vaisakhi over the coming days. As these special occasions are times that Canadians spend with family, going to church or temple, he acknowledged it will be different for all this year as Canadians stay home due to COVID-19. He encouraged Canadians to stay safe, refrain from gathering in person, and to look to new ways for celebrating these occasions this year – such as Skyping family and friends or donating to organizations.
Prime Minister Trudeau thanked the over 27,000 Canadians who have responded to the call to volunteer, and have registered with Health Canada to volunteer their skills to help control the virus. The application to register will remain open until April 24, for those who are able to volunteer and help track and maintain data regarding the spread of COVID-19.
Canadians, both individuals and companies continue to step up to help across the country. Fluid Energy from Alberta is one of the latest on the list of companies to step up to help. Fluid Energy will be producing over a million litres of hand sanitizer each month and will begin their first shipment next week.
Millions for Canadians have also already filed for Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) and have already received the payments. Those who have not yet filed can continue to file today, and over the weekend by visiting the website or by phone.
For small businesses, struggling to pay bills or staff, the Canada Emergency Business Loan was launched yesterday. This loan provides up to $40,000 interest-free through banks and
credit unions, and if repaid within 2 years, 25% of the loan will be forgivable.
Prime Minister Trudeau announced that the House of Commons will be reconvening tomorrow, Saturday, April 11th, to pass what will be the largest economic measures Canada has seen since World War Two. This legislation will also allow for the implementation of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy which provides up to 75% wage subsidy for businesses. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles and respecting democratic institutions even during times of crisis. Due to the parliament reconvening, the daily address by the Prime Minister will be delayed tomorrow, and he will be addressing Canadians from the floor of the House of Commons.
The Prime Minister will be spending Easter Sunday and Monday with his wife and kids, and will commence his daily addresses on Tuesday, April 14th.
