- கொறோனா வைரஸால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்களுக்கும் வணிக நிறுவனங்களுக்கும் உதவி புரிவதற்கான 82 பில்லியன் டொலர் பொருளாதார நடவடிக்கைத் திட்டத்தை அங்கீகரிக்கும் சட்ட மூலத்தை நிறைவேற்றுவதற்காக நாடாளுமன்றம் நாளை கூடவுள்ளது.
- கடந்த வாரம் அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட 82 பில்லியன் டொலருக்கு மேலதிகமாக, தனி நபர்களுக்கும் வணிக நிறுவனங்களுக்கும் உதவியாகப் பின்வரும் நிதியுதவிகள் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன:
– விவசாயிகளுக்கும், விவசாயத் தொழிற் துறைக்கும் கடன்களை வழங்குவதற்காக மேலதிகமாக ஐந்து பில்லியன் டொலர் ஒதுக்கப்படும். விவசாயிகளும், உற்பத்தியாளர்களும்
உணவுப் பயிர்ச் செய்கையைத் தொடர்வதற்கும், கனடியர்களுக்கு உணவு வழங்குவதற்கும் தேவைப்படும் உதவிக்காக இன்று முதல் Farm Credit Canadaவின் ஊடாக விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம்.
கனடாவில் தடுப்பு மருந்தைக் கண்டு பிடிப்பது, அதைத் தயாரிப்பது ஆகியவற்றுக்கென 192 மில்லியன் டொலர் நேரடியாக முதலிடப்படும். இதற்கமைவாக கோவிட்-19 ஐத் தடுக்கும் மருந்துகளைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பதற்கும், சிகிச்சையளிப்பதற்கும் வன் கூவரைத் தளமாகக் கொண்ட அப்செலெறா (AbCellera) மேற்கொள்ளும் முயற்சிகளுக்கு ஆதரவு வழங்கும் ஒப்பந்தம்.
தடுப்பு மருந்துப் பரிசோதனைக்கும், தயாரிப்புக்கும் குபெக் சிட்டியைத் தளமாகக் கொண்ட மெடிககோ (Medicago) நிறுவனத்திற்கு உதவி வழங்கப்படும் சஸ்கெச்சுவான் பல்கலைக் கழகத்தின் தடுப்பு மருந்தும் தொற்று நோயும் நிறுவனத்தின் கண்டு பிடிப்பு முயற்சிக்கும், மருந்தை மக்களுக்கு வழங்கிப் பரிசோதிக்கும் நடவடிக்கைக்கும் நிதி வழங்கப்படும்.
தடுப்பு மருந்து தயாராகியதும், பெருமளவில் அதைத் தயாரிப்பதற்காகக் கனேடிய தேசிய ஆய்வுச் சபையின் (National Research Council of Canada) மொன்றியோல் வளாகத்தில் முதலீடு செய்யப்படும்.

Updated Emergency Measures by the Canadian Federal Governmenton March 23rd
- Tomorrow, the House of Commons will reconvene to pass emergency legislation to approve the $82 billion Economic Response Plan for people and businesses affected by Coronavirus.
- In addition to the $82 billion announced last week, to support individuals and business, additional financial supports have been announced:
– an additional $5 billion will be added in lending capacity to support farmers and the agricultural industry. Starting today, farmers and producers can apply through Farm Credit Canada for the support they need to keep food growing, and feeding Canadians.
– $192 million will be directly invested to support vaccine development and production in Canada. This includes :
– an agreement with Vancouver-based AbCellera to support their work on drugs to treat and prevent COVID-19.
– Quebec City-based Medicago, for vaccine testing and production
– funding the University of Saskatchewan’s Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization, for development and clinical trials, and
– investing in the National Research Council of Canada’s facility in Montreal to mass-produce vaccines once it is available.
- The Canadian government has signed a contract with BlueDot, to use their software to model, track – and therefore, slow – the spread of Coronavirus. This Canadian-developed software among the first in the world to identify the spread of COVID-19 – 9 days ahead of the World Health Organization’s public warning.
- Minister NavdeepBains has also sent a Call to Action to every university, college, polytechnic, and CEGEP in the country as their labs have the resources and expertise to be part of this fight. These institutions also have equipment like masks and ventilatorsand innovative solutions they can be part of, including 3D printing of medical supplies. Many institutions and businesses have come forward and many have expressed interest in stepping forward to address the demand. - The federal government will be launching advertising campaigns as of today, so that Canadians can get accurate information that has been recommended by our healthcare workers.
- The Canadian government continues to work with airlines to get stranded Canadians back home:
– If commercial means are available, Canadians should immediately look to returning while they are still available.
– Air Canada, WestJet, Air Transat, and Sunwing all have flights this week;
– Canada has also secured authorizations for Air Canada to operate three flights this week for Canadians in Peru, and two more flights in the coming days from Morocco
– Air Canada will also be repatriating Canadians from Spain
– Air Transat will be helping organize two from Honduras, and one each from Ecuador, El Salvador, and Guatemala.
- The Prime Minister will hold a call today with Premiers to discuss continued coordination on quarantine and self-isolation and about continuing to move forward with measures to support families and small businesses, and ensure our economy rebounds.
- Team Canada and the Canadian Paralympic Team have decided not to send athletes to the Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer. The Prime Minister supports their decision, and encourages all Canadians to practice Social distancing – physical distancing –as is the single best way to keep the peoplesafe.
Social-distancing is recommended for ALL Canadians, regardless of their risk or exposure to COVID-19, and consists of maintaining a personal space of 2m around them at all times; avoiding groups and staying home as much as possible.
